Revd Dr Emma Percy and Revd Dr Mary Kells, invite you to explore writing prayers and liturgies in a supportive environment.

Format

The day will alternate between worship, talking and writing. Emma and Mary will introduce the theme and suggest forms of prayer to explore creatively. There are 2 writing sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon when participants go off to write. Each writing session is followed by an opportunity to share work/inklings and to receive feedback. We close with a blessing.

Bios

Emma has served as Chair of WATCH since 2016. She is Chaplain, Fellow and Welfare Dean of Trinity College, Oxford, and a Canon of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford. She has authored two books, an academic study, published by Ashgate, Mothering as a Metaphor for Ministry (2014), and a more popular book, What Clergy Do: Especially when it looks like nothing (SPCK 2014). ‘I continue to research, write and speak about theology and mothering, Anglican ministry and the theology of care.’

Mary serves on the WATCH committee since January 2020. She is Assistant Curate at the Parish Church of St Faith, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire. She has just completed her dissertation on incorporating feminine and non-hierarchical language into our language for God (M.Th. in Applied Theology, University of Oxford). Mary is from Northern Ireland. Her previous academic discipline was Social Anthropology. Formerly, she worked in the Voluntary Sector in London, in the fields of mental health and advocacy, and has run her own garden design business.

Our time together will be held over Zoom and you will be sent a Zoom link upon booking.
