Tenth female bishop appointed – Suffragan Bishop of Dorking

The Rev Canon Jo Bailey-Wells has been appointed as the new Suffragan Bishop of Dorking, in Guildford Diocese. Jo is currently the Archbishop of Canterbury’s chaplain and is well acquainted with WATCH’s work and that of Transformations.

Seventh female Dean appointed – Dean of Southwell

It was announced on Monday 4th April that The Venerable Nicola Sullivan is to be the next Dean of Southwell. Nicola is the seventh female Dean in the Church of England.

Bishop of Aston to be Honorary Vice President of WATCH

Rt Rev Anne Hollinghurst, Bishop of Aston, has accepted the invitation to become an Honorary Vice President of WATCH.

Former Chair of WATCH receives CBE

Christina Rees, Chair of WATCH from 1996 – 2010 was invested as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by the Prince of Wales last month.

International Women’s Day 2016 – Women Inspiring Women

To mark International Women’s Day 2016, the Church of England asked Bishops to nominate some of the women they found inspiring. The short film ‘Women Inspiring Women’ looks at 7 Bishops’ stories of those women they find inspiring.

Mothering Sunday: some new gender inclusive resources

New on our Resources section: a variety of pieces created for Mothering Sunday by those who attended a WATCH Liturgy Day last year. There are prayers, drama sketches, intercessions, collects, confessions and outlines for eucharistic services. Many of these are appropriate for other events as well.
